Hey guys & not forgetting girls :P
Its the first Sunday of 2009 haha. School must be fun =.=
Aniway welcome to 2009 lolx, and another year of youth fellowship *YAY!!!*
Today had a larger then usual attendence.
Firstly, we welcomed the graduates from Junior Worship -Bennetta, Samuel, Janice.
Great to have ppl joining us as lkyouths grow. Next, Augustus led us in a time of worship.
We sang 2 songs - "You Shine" & "You know my name". Both are very meaningful songs as both tell of how great our God is - all knowing, everlasting.
Then we splitted into two groups. Sec 1 & 2 in a group and all those Sec 3 and older in another.
Unfortunately, the latter was too large a group and the Sec 3s went join the Sec 1 & 2s. *SOB**SOB*
okay, going on, we were each given a A4 sized book, put painstakenly together by Grace. This was to be our bible study & devotion material. yeah and augustus was the teacher for Sec 4 and older.
Going on to the lesson, the topic for the day/week was "Is There a Standard for Wrong & right?"
The answer to this question as many of us blurted out was YES! but the reason?
After brainstorming for a draggy 1 hour, we stumbled on the reason. First there is a standard because it is written on our conscience but our conscience is never specific in the standards for right and wrong. Thus the society we live in, is always changing and so do the standards too.
There also another reason and that is God defines right and wrong. This is seen as in Exodus 20 where God gave the Ten Commandments to the Isrealites.God is everlasting and never changes, thus the standard He set for us is always the same. (Isaiah 40:6-8) Thus God's standard is the absolute standard for right and wrong. In Romans 2:12-15, Jesus Christ is our law. Hearing him is not enough, we have to obey him. God's standards of right and wrong are clear for us to see, but obeying them is a problem.
Let us pray to God to help us to follow His standards and obey them.
Opps! it seems I have said too much so lets end it here. Happy 2009!
Tata :D
