I've put off for the longest time to write about the "What is Christianity" presentation in Chinese International School, held on the Sat 4th Feb 2007. But better late than never!
Anywayz, it was a great show guyz!! Those that were involved, give yourself a bbiiigggg pat on the back. I believe that the message that Christianity is (not about attending church, being good, believing in God {yeah! even the devil believes!}) about, & only about J-E-S-U-S, the Son of God whose sole mission on earth was to SAVE the LOST so that we may enjoy a relationship with our heavenly FATHER.
Well, the day already started on Friday evening when a BAND of bros (& sis also!) helped transport the equipment from LK to CIS. *whew* It was a herculean effort but many hands made work light! It was a miracle we manage to set up the music instruments relatively quickly and soon got the rehearsal on the way.
The actual morning started real early ... @ 7.30am! Biyu and Vanessa did a warm-up for all the youths who were part of the "ra-ra" gang! while the Band went straight to CIS to warm up their fingers/vocals and also prep their hearts to worship God!
@ 8.30am, first class of PRC (chinese) students walked in, followed by the rest of the contingen of 250 others (including teachers). Programme was to start @ 8.30am but on offically began @ 8.45am. Panic!! As we needed to complete every part in a much shorter time (by 9.30am!). As the time-keeper, I whispered a prayer to God who literally took control of everything, even time!!
Vanessa & Biyu, together with the "ra-ra" youths, warmed up the students with a couple of action songs, like "Peel Banana", "My side " etc. The Primary students thoroughly enjoyed the time but the Secondary schools were not as enthusiastic (yeah ... even developing china is facing problems with a apathetic generation of youths).
After 10mins, Shanyong came up to give the student a short glimpse of the history of Christianity in Singapore. He was the Santa Claus that morning ... throwing out prizes to students who answered the right answer.
@ 9.05am, the skit began with our academy award actors and actresses, including the very young uncle "Chin Kai" (Tabitha/Tiffany's daddy)!! Clap Clap!! It was a collaboration btw the Chinese and English Congregation. Truely, one body of Christ! The skit painted a clear message of Christianity.
Close to the end, songs that emphasized the main points blended in. The youth band, led by Augustus, brought home the message with "Here I am to Worship" & "Amazing Grace". It was great guyz!!
To bring this segment to a close, FanTing (Chinese youth) gave a recap of all the elements that were discussed.
Miraculously, the whole programme ended on the dot, 9.30am which gave the students time to walk to their classes where the LK teachers, together with the youth teacher aides, carried on with the next segment.
*Whew* what a morning! Putting a programme within the span of 1 week's notice was nothing sort of God's Hand @ work. I'ld like to take this opportunity to "Thank you Lord, for You 'who are able to do immeasurably more that all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.'"
